The gardens in the old city walls, Istanbul
Just inside of the old city walls of Istanbul, you can find the most incredible vegitable gardens hidden away. They are the remnants of a time when Istanbul would have to be self surficient when it was under siege. However, still today there are farmers who work this land and sell their vegetables to the city. The illustrations are of two farmers who invited us in for tea as we explored these gardens.
