Before an eviction

These are two scenes I drew the week before the eviction of the Calais Jungle. The mood in the camp was heavy and tense, as people passed information around, uncertainty and confusion seemed to hang between every interaction. But many also expressed that they were used to this, born in a refugee camp, and hounded across Europe, the only thing to do was to continue with life as usual, in the restaurants, bakeries and homes- normalcy: an act of defiance in the face of police oppression.
